Do you ask why? Well, simply because we're in a time crunch and cannot keep up with all the mails and requests to review startups, new product, service launches, feature enhancements etc., in addition to other related stuff.
While we already provided a way for individuals to publish news on their own on Startups.in without requiring our intervention at startups in news, it looks like people still find it cumbersome or are just lazy. ;-)
So in an attempt to simplify it further, we came up with this idea to allow anyone to quickly publish anything related to startups in twitter style.
We therefore would appreciate it if you could twitter whatever you wanted to say about your startup @ Startups in Twitter instead of waiting for us to announce your startups. We also promise to follow each and every twitter and give due attention to every request as time permits.

Undoubtedly, celebrities and movie stars enjoy a special stature all over the world but when it comes to India they are treated like demigods and may be in some cases equal to Gods.
It is common for stars and celebrities to capitalize on this kind of popularity by way of endorsing brands etc.
But again, when it comes to India the enormous popularity of some super stars has also led to prominent political careers. For example, in Tamil Nadu, where the Tamil film superstars Sivaji Ganesan, M. G. Ramachandran, J. Jayalalitha etc., who have ruled Tamil Nadu as the Chief Minister while the Telugu cinema superstar N. T. Rama Rao enjoyed a similar political career in Andhra Pradesh. Hindi (Bollywood) film stars, Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Dharmendra, Govinda etc., including the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, have also dabbled in politics but with short term success than that of their South Indian counterparts.
Now, the latest fad or the current trend is for stars to venture into startups. (Well, stars and startups seem to sh

Andrew Ive, a startup veteran came across the idea for his next startup while serving as a member on the board of entrepreneurs at Small Business Council, established by the Government of UK. As a board member he was responsible to advise and input into policy and thinking as it related to Small Businesses.
While at it, listening to the summary of some research on small businesses, a point was made that there is plenty of funding available but unfortunately most of the startups and small businesses were not 'investment ready'. That got the cogs in his brain working and he was trying to understand why were small businesses or startups not investment ready? And how could they be made ready?
The outcome of that thought process is AdvisorGarage, which bills itself as a dating site for business owners and investors as well as advisers.
1. What’s the story behind Advisor Garage? How did it come to be?
Advisor Garage came about through one of those typical ‘Aha’ moments that most Entrepreneurs experience. Having already started two companies I well and truly had the bug! There really is nothing like starting a startup. The one hesitation from company #3 wasn’t an idea…they pop along like buses at a bus stop, it was ‘Do I really have to pull all those resources together again, all those different people that can help me find the cash, develop the product, those first few customers, set up the company and so on. Wouldn’t it be great if there w

As always, it is absolutely FREE to apply or post a job. In fact it is also rewarding. You can notice that few of the jobs posted here have referral rewards associated with them which can be yours if a friend whom you refer (by clicking on the "Email to a friend" link) gets hired.
Better yet you can apply as well refer the same job to some one else and you'd still qualify for the referral award. :-)

For the past 10 days I've sat through 200 company demos for the TechCrunch50 conference. These demos are mostly done over the phone for 10 minutes using the phone and web conferencing software like WebEx or Adobe's wonderful new "Connect" service.
After doing 2,500 minutes of demos (40 hours) this year and many more last year for the conference, I've learned a lot about what makes for a great demo and what makes for a horrible demo. Since demoing your idea is a key to your success as an entrepreneur, I thought I would share everything I know in a few simple bullet points.
These tips are applicable to presenting in front of an investor, a partner as well as a demo style conference. Of course, every situation is different so consider these loose guidelines.
Background: The TechCrunch50 conference is taking places on September 8-10th in San Francisco and you can find more information here: www.techcrunch50.com. Mike Arrington of TechCrunch.com and I started the event last year as a place where fifty startup companies could launch their products without having to pay a fee (i.e. the incumbent conference called DEMO charges $18,500 to launch a startup company--that's really low/absusive in my book). Google, Microsoft,
Yahoo, Sequoia Capital and a bunch of other fine partners have joined us in hosting the event.

Most folks start their presentations with information like the size of the market they are tackling (tens of billions, we only need 1%!), their inflated co
